Wahlstrom Leads Golf

On Thursday, Oct. 17, the team faced Alison Niguel and lost by a score of 203 to 190.

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the team traveled to Aliso Viejo Country Club to play Aliso Niguel and lost by a score of 216 to 201.

The team’s win streak snapped as they were defeated by San Clemente by a score of 219-200 on Thursday, Oct. 10.

After defeating San Clemente at El Niguel by a score of 209-211 on Wednesday, Oct. 9th, the team increased their win streak to seven matches. Senior Lauren Wahlstrom tied her season’s top individual score, hitting even.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8th, the team defeated Trabuco Hills at Dove Canyon with a score of 209-236.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the team faced off against El Toro and won with a score of 213-290.

The afternoon before on Tuesday, Oct. 1, the team began the month of October strong with another win against El Toro, defeating the Bulls with a score of 221-261. Wahlstrom had another excellent match, earning a personal score of 2 over par. Furthermore, Freshmen Sydnie Duvall continued her individual success, scoring 3 over par.

Duvall elaborated on how she achieves prosperity on the course. She stated, “I love the game of golf and the competition, and that pushes me to work hard and practice everyday. My coaches guidance has helped me develop as a player and that has had a huge impact on my game. My goal is to improve, play the best that I can, and contribute to the success of my team.”

On Monday Sept. 30, at the LB Wilson Tournament at Rec Park, the team finished 16th out of 23. On the back nine, Wahlstrom scored 5 over par, her best individual performance since the team’s match against Trabuco at El Niguel on Sept. 18.

Against San Juan Hills on Thursday, Sept. 26, the team defeated the Stallions with a score of 220-240. Scoring 3 over par, Fuentes had team’s best individual score.

Two days before on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the team claimed their first victory against San Juan Hills at El Niguel Country Club with a smaller margin of victory 225-237. Duvall scored two over par, earning the best score on the team for that match.

On Monday, Sept. 23, the team participated in the Rainbow Sandals tournament at San Clemente Municipal Golf Course. The team earned a score of 441, ranking themselves 10th out of 19 teams. Zoie Fuentes had the team’s best individual performances during the tournaments, scoring 5 over par on the first nine holes and 4 over par on the second nine holes.
