Volunteer Fair

On Tuesday, Nov. 9, Dana Hills High School held an exciting volunteer fair. It allowed for all students to sign up for various activities and events to participate in to gain experience with new things as well as receive service hours.

All students were invited to attend during lunch and were encouraged to sign up for any of the activities that were made available by Dana Hills High School. DHHS students were provided this opportunity to help more students become involved in the school community. Each of the volunteer choices given to all of the students were fun and exciting, and all helped the student who signed up for them to become further involved with their school.

Furthermore, students were able to earn community service hours for participating and showing up to these events. There are honors organizations within the school, including the California Scholarship Federation as well as the National Honor Society, which each require each member to reach a minimum amount of volunteer hours. The volunteer fair provided these students with extra options and ideas for places they can volunteer at in order to reach their quota.

Given a broad amount of options, Dana Hills High School students were able to sign up for volunteer shifts that they found interest in. This school event allowed for students to also feel out as well as work with their interests as well. To add on, through volunteering, students will be able to develop many new skills within the work they do. The volunteer fair allowed for many students to gain more experience in different fields which will cause students to have more confidence in the things they may try later in their life.

All students could sign up for any of the presented volunteer events, so it was also a great way for students to begin thinking about the future. They can assess their interests and what they should decide to focus on as well as setting goals for themselves.

The students who helped to showcase these volunteer opportunities have the hope of engaging more students presence on campus and for there to be another volunteer fair in the following semester.
