Texas Ranger Opening Day

Texas Rangers opening day: Full Capacity

As the new 2021baseball season kicks off, the Texas Rangers are making headlines. Their stadium, the Globe life field was open to full capacity for their opening game against the Toronto Blue Jays. According to CNN, They sold over 38,000 tickets for their stadium that seats 40,518 with little to no social distancing.

This opening day game was the biggest sports gathering in the US since the pandemic began last year. Texas has lifted its covid-19 capacity guidelines and are loosening mask mandates and other precautions which allowed this event to happen. Masks were required at all times aside from while actively eating or drinking but that isn’t enough to fully keep covid-19 from spreading at a large event like this.

While speaking to ESPN, President Joe Biden called this large social gathering “not responsible” and “a mistake.” He stated how important it was to continue listening to scientists and doctors and wearing a mask. Even with vaccines rolling out, Covid-19 is still spreading and making people ill in the US meaning gathering like this can still be dangerous.
