The softball season is officially in full swing, but has also presented itself as a bit of a challenge. After a slew of tough matchups, the team has a record of 1-6.
The Dolphins’ latest game took place on Thursday, Mar. 5. The Dolphins won 7-6.
On Tuesday, Mar. 3, the girls’ game against Tesoro ended in a nailbitter, but ultimately a 6-7 defeat.
In similar circumstances, the game on Saturday, Feb. 29, was suspenseful, but ended in a win against Beaumont with a final score of 8-9. Later in the day, the girls also lost against Charter Oak.
However, this loss proved to be an anomaly for them, considering that their prior game came as a successful win against Crean Lutheran with a score of 3-0 on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
This win also happened to come at the perfect time, breaking the continuous string of losses the team racked up throughout the season.
Just before this win came a crushing loss against Mater Dei on Thursday, Feb. 20. The game concluded in a brutal 8-0 defeat.
Prior to this game was another upsetting loss, this time against Woodbridge by a score of 11-1 played on Wednesday, Feb. 19. To add to this list of overwhelming losses comes yet again another misstep in the season. Dana Hills’ lost to JSerra Catholic on Tuesday, February 18 by a score of 1-14.
Going back to the first game of the season, Dana played against Foothill on Saturday, Feb. 15; Dana lost 0-1.
While it is easy to see that Dana has had a difficult season with several ups and downs, it isn’t over yet. With every loss comes an even bigger motivation to work harder and improve, and with this team’s dedication and persistence, there is no telling what’s in store for this season besides the fact that it will be full of hard work to get the team back on track.
Junior Jasmine Gallegos is optimistic, saying, “we have had a series of very hard fought games to start off the season, each with everyone contributing their best effort and heart. I feel that with our strong mindset, the remainder of our season continue to be successful!”
