Should CUSD Require Students to be Vaccinated?

With vaccines being released, there are many who are making their appointments to transform the year that was filled with challenges and misery to something a little less challenging. In fact, the teachers at the CUSD district have been approved to get the vaccine so that they can remain safe in their work environment. Now the question to ask oneself is should  all teachers and staff and students be required to get the vaccine?

From the first year of elementary school, parents are asked to make sure that their kids have received the required vaccinations to attend the school which records then are able to prove whether or not they have received the vaccinations. These vaccines include Hepatitis B, Diphtheria and Tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine and Pertussis vaccine (DTaP), Varicella, and various others. Furthermore, the older that they become, the more vaccines that they are needed to get, a requirement for students to be able to attend school with other individuals their age. However, when it comes to this new vaccine, concerns arise on whether it is needed or safe for kids under the age of eighteen to get this injection.

As a student who still attends high school, I have to say that getting the vaccine should not become a new policy for students.

As a student who still attends high school, I have to say that getting the vaccine should not become a new policy for students. Each individual and family has their own beliefs as well as opinions when it comes to topics such as this. Some may believe that getting the vaccine will make the students’ environment safer, while others might stand against such claims. They may not want to receive the vaccine since they may believe that the vaccine can be a burden upon their lives or simply because they do not think they can get sick or the pandemic is real.

With that being said, I believe that with the vaccine being a recent discovery, no enormous change must be made until more time passes by and as for now, those who wish to receive the vaccine should do as they please while the individuals who do not want to can continue with their lives without being pressured by the society or any particular individual.
