On Oct. 5, 2019, Dana Hills High School hosted our annual homecoming dance. This year, the dance, themed “The Greatest Circus on Earth,” emulated a night at the circus with a variety of food and entertainment.
A popular commodity the night before at the homecoming game, the cotton candy machine was again appreciated at the dance. Students waited patiently in the long line to obtain this sweet treat from their childhoods.
On top of the cotton candy machine, there was a mini donut station where students had a variety of toppings to choose from in order to customize their donuts. Senior Coco Waszak stated that the mini donuts were “some of the best things she has ever tasted.”
For the entertainment, a stilt walker roamed the mall floor, towering over the students, and a juggler rode his unicycle, tossing pins into the air. A walking magician performed multiple tricks to students, even pulling a selected card from his mouth. To add to the circus theme, there were many carnival games in the mall. Students were seen playing ring toss, milk bottle baseball and skeeball.
Lastly, students had photos taken of themselves and their friends in the photo booth. With many props to choose from, students posed with scarves, glasses and more.
Inside the gym, N-Effect productions provided lighting and sound. Senior Kelly Kartchner had positive comments regarding the music, stating “the DJ was one of the better DJs that we have had. He had way better transitions than even last year’s prom.”
