After the team’s vigorous training in the offseason, the girls look to translate their preparation onto the pitch.
Against Huntington Beach on Tuesday, Dec. 17, the team tied the Oilers 0-0.
On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the team hosted Northwood and defeated the Timberwolves with a score of 1-0. Sophomore Ana Moreno led Dana’s offensive efforts and scored her first goal of the season.
In their first match in December, the team traveled to Trabuco Hills. In a scoreless game, the two teams tied, and Dana resisted from losing three games in a row.
During the game, Caitlyn Ferguson had an altercation with a player on the opposing team. She expanded upon the tense situation, commenting, “At the end of a very competitive and aggressive game which included several yellow cards, my opponent turned around and punched me in the jaw and eyeball after I won the ball from her.” Ferguson’s aggressor was given her second yellow of the match, translating into a red card and a disqualification.
Two days following the team’s lost to Capo Valley, the Dolphins hoped to earn their first win of the season against Laguna Hills on Thursday, Nov. 21. Unfortunately, in a close game, Dana lost by a score of 0-1.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19th, the team faced Capo Valley for the first game of the season. Senior Cameron Marshall scored the team’s only goal of the match. However, her efforts were not enough, and the Dolphins lost 1-2.
