Senior Carrick Denker led the Dolphins with the time of 15:45. He finished 43 in the nation. He commented, “It’s an honor to be able to race against the top teams in the nation and to be able to say we’re the eighth fastest team in the country.”
Sophomore Brandon Pizano followed behind, finishing 81 with a time of 16:07. Sophomore Jai Dawson finished 91 (16:13), senior Omar Garcia finished 119 (16:30) and junior Ryan Broadhead finished 126 (16:34).
The runners ran an extremely challenging course. It featured many small hills and dips and was muddy in many places. Not to mention, during the race, the runners were forced to run in the rain.
Before the race, the boys were treated to a VIP experience at the Nike headquarters. They received custom uniforms, apparel and shoes, courtesy of Nike. As the sponsor of the race, Nike ensured the runners were treated like professionals.
Looking back on the event, senior Omar Garcia reflected, “It’s been really insane to be able to spend time at Nike World Headquarters with the fastest teams in the nation. It’s really a great experience and all of the hard work has really paid off. Carrick and I are glad we got to experience it our senior year and are stoked with how we did.”
