With the quarantine resulting from the spread of COVID-19, concern has arisen around many school programs, but especially organizations with service hour requirements like Dolphin Pride, the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honors Society. Some students have worried about the continuation of their membership with these organizations since the ability to complete requirements has largely been taken away due to school closure.
Both CSF and NHS have decided to wave the hour requirement for this semester.
The California Scholarship Federation, led by senior Grant Reskey and advised by English teacher Molly Coghill, announced on Tuesday, Mar. 24 that the hour requirement has been completely waived for this semester.
Soon after on Friday, Mar. 27, the National Honors Society decided to also rescind the requirement. President senior Kaycie Rippe and teacher advisor Lauren Barahona will accept any amount of hours members were able to complete this semester, even if that is zero. Juniors with roll over hours will complete them next fall.
